Retreats with meaning

Charlie Brown Music NJ

Traditional retreats often devote much time to quiet prayer, reflection and periods of silence.  Spiritual retreats offer different approaches to examining ones personal journey with God.  Music can help facilitate the interior movement of the Holy Spirit, and help to clarify the scripture lessons or teachings that are being provided by the retreat leader.  If you are planning a retreat consider the role that music can play to help deepen the prayerful experience of those who seek a closer relationship with God.

Worship music is a celebration of all that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, have revealed to humanity throughout the ages, love, mercy, forgiveness, and passion for His creation and all of it put to music.  It’s music that can be shared in intimate prayer settings, large gatherings, anywhere where peoples’ hearts are turned toward God and seek to honor and praise Him.

I believe that Jesus is leading us all to himself and that the privilege of leading worship is to inspire hope, courage and joy in each soul on that ultimate journey.

TESTIMONIALS

I’ve known Charlie Brown for a number of years starting with the times he would join in the music ministry at St. Anselm Church when I was pastor there. His “visits” to our community were always welcome – his spirit enhanced the experience.

But mainly I’ve come to know the musician Charlie Brown over the past three years when he has become part of our men’s retreat movement at The Church of the Precious Blood. The men’s retreat program has been a great spiritual gift to the parish. Charlie joined the program to assist a retreat leader and bring song to the weekend. But he brought so much more. His great love for the Lord, his realization of the power of the Lord working in his and our lives brings a great peace to the weekend. I’m always amazed that Charlie brings the right words, the right music to the moments of the retreat.

Each year, now, when we get close to the retreat weekend the men always want to know if Charlie will be there with his guitar and his gifts. His presence helps us praise God, and give thanks for the miracles that happen everyday because of God’s love.
